2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (such as pecans or walnuts)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the sugar until well combined.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, whisking vigorously until smooth and creamy.
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, then drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the top. Use a knife to gently swirl the caramel into the batter. Repeat with the remaining batter and caramel.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out with a few moist crumbs.
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
