Welcome to my kitchen!

Hi! I'm Sophie Bennett, a 34-year-old dessert lover based in Seattle. My passion for Korean sweets began during the unforgettable years I spent with my grandmother—my Halmoni—in Jeonju, South Korea. She wasn't a chef, but to me, her kitchen was magic. Watching her make treats like yakgwa and sujeonggwa taught me that love speaks through flavor.
Back in the U.S., I held onto those recipes like treasures. I’ve had plenty of flops (my first gangjeong was a crunchy disaster!), but every mistake brought me closer to blending Korean tradition with a home cook’s creativity.
That’s why I started TasteDiary—a space where I share simple, heartfelt Korean dessert recipes for anyone curious to try. If you’re a home cook who loves a little sweetness and a lot of warmth, you’re in the right place.
Let’s cook something meaningful together. Just like Halmoni taught me: taste it, and your tongue will remember.
